The bright lights of the modelling world are shining on two people after they were named the winners of the Face of Oceana competition.

Natalie Milton, 19, and Jermaine McCubbine, 22, were chosen by clubbers last Friday to become the poster girl and boy for the club's promotional material for the next year.

As well as having their face on all Oceana's flyers and advertisements, they have also won a professional photoshoot, VIP free entry for one year to the nightclub, in The Parade, and a cash prize.

And both winners hope the competition could propel them toward a lucrative modelling career.

Jermaine entered on a "spur of the moment" thing after spotting the competition online. Modelling, he said, was something he was interested in but had never pursued, until now.

The sports therapy graduate, who hopes to train as a PE teacher next year, said: "This could be the start. People told me I should do it but I never thought about it.

"I'm excited. I've never done anything like this before. I just cannot wait."

Jermaine, from East Finchley, said he was "so nervous" before appearing on stage at Oceana, but was confident he could win, and is now getting used to his "ten-minutes of fame".

"On Facebook I'm getting random people adding me as a friend," he said. "It's overwhelming."

Natalie, an advertising, marketing and PR student from Arkley, near Barnet, similarly entered as a "random thing".

She said: "I thought it might be a laugh.

"I was very nervous about it. I don't like getting up in front of different people but the crowd were surprisingly good.

"I felt really good (to win) and it boosted my confidence. It's amazing and we will see where it goes. I doubt anyone is going to recognise me."
