BUSINESS was booming at Vicarage Road Stadium on Wednesday when Watford's Enterprise Agency (WENTA) held its first Meet The Buyers networking event.
Organised by WENTA's business club, the event brought more than 60 small business owners and sole traders into contact with purchasing representatives of major local organisations in order to develop business opportunities.
Mr Chris Pichon, of WENTA, said: "It was a highly successful day. The people who attended had a fantastic opportunity to meet up with buyers from larger organisations who they would not normally be able to see."
Club members met buyers for ten-minute slots to discuss the products and services they provide and find opportunities for business on the day or in the future.
Among the major organisations represented were Camelot, Matthew Arnold and Baldwin, The Harlequin, Watford Peace Hospice, Queens School and local authorities.
Mr Pichon said the response from delegates and Watford Football Club, which hosted the event, had been very encouraging and it was hoped Meet The Buyers would become an annual event. He said: "A lot of business was done on the day and it's going to become a very important opportunity for small local businesses."
