Three escape injury in Bushey fire

Three people escaped injury when a fire broke out in a basement flat in Bushey last night.

Firefighters from Watford were called to Chalk Hill at around 9.52pm, after being alerted to smoke coming from a building.

On arrival, the two crews found a fire in the basement flat that had caused smoke to spread to the rest of the building.

Soon afterwards, further fire engines from Bushey, Garston, Rickmansworth and Hemel Hempstead were mobilised to deal with the incident and joined police officer and paramedics outside the converted townhouse, close to Bushey Arches.

Road blocks were enforced at the junction with Aldenham Road and Villiers Road while emergency services were at the scene, until around 11.07pm.

A fire investigation will take place this morning to determine the cause of the blaze.

Nobody was injured but it was noted three people were involved.
