'Shock jock' James Whale comes to Watford

Controversial “shock jock” James Whale will be signing books and meeting fans in The Harlequin shopping centre at lunchtime on Friday.

The radio DJ was fired from TalkSPORT after 13 years of service for breaching broadcasting regulations by urging listeners to vote for Boris Johnson in the London mayoral election earlier this year.

And he will be in Waterstones in Watford at 12 noon signing copies of the paperback edition of his autobiography, Almost a Celebrity: A Life-time of Night-time.

Shock Jock? The only shocking thing about this creep is how he's managed to rake down a living from broadcasting for the last God knows how many years. I read recently he's now presenting on one of those bid-up-down tv channels. He and they deserve each other!!

I agree, bit of a waste of space he is.

I see that other shock jock John Gaunt has got his marching orders too. What a shame

Blimey - what a couple of Guardian readers you two are.

I for one like a bit of controversy and some home truths told.

If everyone towed the p.c. line the world would be a dull place!

I have to agree with andyandyandy, John Gaunt was too full of himself - yes he provoked debat but he was amazingly self opinionated, smug and hypocrytical (yikes, is that spelt right?) and was always promoting himself no end.

I did listen to his show quite a lot for the interesting debates but he grated on me no end and I always thought it would be much better without him. His replacements the past couple of weeks have had equally interesting debates and discussions but the manner they have undertaken them has been much much better.
