CRACKED, loose and poorly maintained pavements are blighting the lives of elderly and disabled residents in Watford, according to a campaigning resident.
A detailed independent report by Garston-based clinical scientist Gary Murphy, 34, has concluded that many of the town's pavements are in a state of disrepair.
The report, which took weeks to compile, uses data from Age Concern, the Royal National Institute for the Blind, Watford Council and the Department of Transport to reach its findings.
It calls on Hertfordshire County Council, which is responsible for Watford's highways, to spend more time and money on pavements to prevent residents from tripping and hurting themselves.
Mr Murphy has also submitted his report to Hertfordshire's MPs in the hope that it will lead to action being taken.
