Brendan Rodgers has made just the one change to the Watford starting line-up for tonight’s Carling Cup quarter-final against Tottenham Hotspur at Vicarage Road, although the team once again takes on a different look.

Leigh Bromby returns after missing Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Doncaster Rovers, and he returns at the expense of Will Hoskins.

This means Adrian Mariappa reverts to right-back, with Ross Jenkins – still a League Cup ever-present this term – moving back into midfield in what looks like it may be a 4-1-4-1 system.

There is also one interesting inclusion among the seven replacements, with Al Bangura seemingly given another opportunity to stake his claim after his disciplinary issues under Aidy Boothroyd.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp may have stated Premier League points are what matter, but he has still fielded a strong line-up for the holders, although it is one that shows four changes from the team that lost 1-0 to Everton on Sunday.

Michael Dawson replaces Ledley King in defence, Jermaine Jenas, against expectation, and Jamie O’Hara come in for Tom Huddlestone and David Bentley in midfield, while Fraiser Campbell gets the nod over Darren Bent up front. However, all four players that have been omitted are on the bench.
