Plans to build 235 homes on the former Leggatts campus are expected to be thrown out by councillors tonight.
Developers, George Wimpey North Thames, are seeking permission to build 21 one-bed flats on the north Watford site, along with 89 two-bed flats, one three-bed flat, as well as 56 three-bedroom houses and 67 seven four-bed houses.
Members of Watford Borough Council's planning committee will vote on the plans at a meeting tonight. However, council officers have recommended the proposal for refusal.
In a report, officers say the proposal falls “well short” of acceptable standards.
The report also criticises the “inappropriate scale and layout of the development, the appearance of the buildings and the lack of integration with the existing neighbouring properties”.
The proposal is recommended for refusal on 17 separate reasons.
Tonight's meeting starts at 7.30pm inside the town hall.
