Pantomime dame Widow Twankey will sport award winning underwear when she takes to the stage in Rickmansworth on Friday.
The Watersmeet Theatre was inundated with entries when it launched an irreverent children’s competition to design the Aladdin star’s all important bloomers.
The venue’s Big Pants Pantomime Competition attracted nearly 500 entries, with each child using an internet template to express their often garish ideas.
Cross dressing actor John Brenner was able to choose a winner from entries as far away as Switzerland.
He said: "I was so amazed with the number of designs and the quality. Children's imaginations never fail to impress.
“Some had even named their pants, so there were scaredy pants, smarty pants and even Star Wars pants to chose from.”
Unable to choose a winner, Mr Brenner plumped for a combination of two designs.
Kloe Gristwood, aged ten and from Borehamwood, designed a combination of checks and spots which are the front and Amber Norman, aged eight, from Rickmansworth, will have her flower design on the rear.
The winning garment will appear with the MS Twankey throughout the production.
Aladdin is running from Friday, December 12 to Sunday January 4. Tickets are available on 01923 711063 or on-line at www.watersmeet.co.uk
