Thousands of rail passengers face hours of delays and cancellations after overhead power lines were damaged near Watford.

All London Midland and Virgin services between London Euston and Milton Keynes were cancelled earlier this afternoon.

Rail bosses have advised against all travel on the route. London Overground services, however, have not been affected.

Network Rail said power lines near Watford Junction station were damaged at around 3.30pm.
