WATFORD COUNCIL'S new £90,000 a year managing director started work on Monday.
Alastair Robertson joins from Three Rivers Council where he worked for 14 years as its chief executive.
Before this he was based at councils throughout the country including Hackney and Bolton after graduating from Glasgow University with a masters in politics and economics.
As the linchpin of the council Mr Robertson will face a tough challenge in helping to steer it towards success following widely publicised damning reports into the state of its finances and a spate of internal redundancies.
The Liberal Democrat administration is hoping his extensive background in local government will help them continue to carry out their top to bottom reforms of the council.
This week, the council also announced it had hired a raft of top level staff including a new head of technical services and a new director of finance.
