Tory leader, David Cameron, is reported to have gagged prospective Conservative candidates following the Ian Oakley affair.
A leaked memo revealed the Conservative leader now plans to monitor the speeches, blogs and newspaper articles of would-be MPs.
A national newspaper reported Mr Cameron has ordered fortnightly meetings to assess specified candidates, aimed at those most likely to embarrass the party.
The move is designed to stop further embarrassment to the Conservatives.
The Tory party has seen 12 prospective parliamentary candidates, including Oakley, resign in the past 18 months.
In October, Oakley, the former Conservative candidate for Watford, was given a 18-week jail sentenced, which was suspended for 12 months.
He admitted 75 cases of harrassment and criminal damage.
Another candidate was forced to resign after claiming Enoch Powell “was right”.
