Cold weather delays promised leak repair in Bushey

A water leak in Bushey that started before Christmas has remained unfixed due to “cold weather” putting it behind other “high priority” issues.

Last week the Watford Observer reported that Three Valleys Water was repairing the leak, which had prompted fears of hazardous frozen pavements from residents and councillors.

Today, following reports that the leak remained unfixed, a Three Valleys Water spokesperson said: “Three Valleys Water would like to apologise to customers for the delay in repairing the leak in Coldharbour Lane, Bushey.

"However, due to the cold weather conditions with night temperatures going down to -11ºC, our levels of burst water mains increased and we have had staff working round the clock to repair high priority burst water mains. This leak is now scheduled for repair next week.”

Water constantly leaking from breaks around Bushey arches. What with water main leaks and huge puddles due to the failure to keep drains clear (I reported blocked gutters 14 months ago in Oxhey avenue and still nothing done) - both pavements and roads become less pleasent and safe to use. You would think a national programme of basic repairs to infrastructure such as roads and pavements would be a quick way of getting construction workers back in work and money into the economy. And tax payers would see some benefit from the money being spent too!
