HE endured blisters and aching legs but now keen rambler Mark Cundy is back at his desk after walking the 280 miles from London to Amsterdam for charity.

Mr Cundy, of St Albans Road, Watford, has raised an estimated £750 for Cancer Research UK after the tough two-week trek, which he dubbed Operation Tulip.

The 37-year--old training manager at igroup in Watford, who walked around the coastline of Cornwall earlier this year, said: "It was hell across England.

"I was all right but then the blisters really started coming through.

"I went into a chemist and got a bottle of surgical spirit and doused them with that.

"Once I got on to the continent it felt a lot better because it is much flatter all the way through to Holland.

"I followed canals and tram lines.

"Wherever I went I found paths that were already established.

"I had a couple of days in Amsterdam at the end but it is good to be back and spend a whole day sitting down."

Mr Cundy was sponsored by colleagues at igroup and by his family and friends.
