FOR the first time, electors in Watford can make sure they are registered to vote by making a quick phone call.
Town hall officials are urging locals to make sure they are registered to vote to ensure they can voice their opinions in local and national elections.
Every year thousands of people forget to register and risk being refused loans and credit because their name does not appear on the electoral roll.
The new telephone service is aimed at making the registration process easier.
Forms will be delivered to homes this month. Householders can call a freephone number to re-register or post back the form if any details need changing.
The service will also be available in Chinese, French, Gujarati, Hindi, Italian, Punjabi, Spanish, Turkish and Urdu.
