Thousands turn out for soldiers' parade

Thousands of people filled Watford High Street this lunchtime to cheer more than 200 soldiers as they marched through the town centre.

Residents lined the streets, stood in shops and hung out of windows to see members of the 2nd Battalion, The Royal Anglian Regiment, take part in the Freedom of the Borough parade.

And unlike the protests in Luton yesterday, there were no incidents or any disruption.

Glad to see the soldiers got the right sort of welcome from the people of Watford.

Shame the stupid minority in Luton got so much publicity and were allowed to protest. I note those arrested were objecting to the protesters which sums up life in Brown's Britain. The PM well he was dissappointed in the protesters. In his place the word ashamed would be more correct

Now that's how it's done and hopefully Watford's parade will get as much (if not more) TV and news coverage as yesterday's events in Luton. Don't give these idiots the oxygen of publicity.

So proud of the Poachers!

i had to work so could not attend .. looks like things went a little better than yesterday .. thank god .. these boys do a thankless task so people can have the right to free speech .. I would like to have seen the protesters doing something similar in an islamic/fundimentili
st country ... then they may have realised exactly the value of these troops when they steped in to protect them !

The place for protest is outside parliament against those who sent the lads on these missions, irrespective of your views, it should not be against these brave soldiers who lay down their lives for everyone in this country, yes even those who protested, where would they be if GB was ever to be attacked, probably on the first flight out, whereas these guys would be at the front, keep up the good work lads, you're the worlds best not just the UK.

Although I have to accept that everyone has a right to protest etc, I would like to know why the police never removed the offensive placards, let alone the protesters, because surely to show such offensive banners is incitement, which in this instance is an offence, Herts Police 1 Beds Police 0

To everyone in Watford who turned out to support the Royal Anglians, a big thank you. To the Luton minority - this is how we treat hero's - no weirdo's in sight.
