Our 6 foot 4 cardboard cut out Lawrence had his day out with the lads at Twickenham for The Calcutta Cup, Colin failed in his allocated duty to dress him in a kilt, I couldn`t find the ginger “Jimmy” hat I was going to put on him so he had to settle for a tartan scarf.

Ever tried a half a mile walk with a 6 foot 4 cardboard cut out then a 30 minute train ride followed by 20 minutes on The Bakerloo Line then a trek through a packed Waterloo ? It`s no wonder rugby fans turn to drink on days like this

We were joined by Colin, my old school team mate John and one of our regulars Richard ( Lord Chelmswood ) who showed up dressed like an advert for Man at C&A complete with Blazer, shiny buttons and crested tie no doubt in the hope of an invitation into the royal box

Once at Twickenham we followed Lord C into a private area in the car park that was filled with similar men in blazers with shiny buttons and crested ties, “Just off to shake a few hands “ said Lord C leaving us at a table loaded with free wine and former England internationals

Once inside the stadium we took our seats leaving one free for Lord C, needn`t have bothered as 5 minutes into the game a text arrived “ Am in the royal box with Princess Anne “, that was the last we saw of him

Following day was Mother`s Day and we served 162 lunches and could have served another 100 such was the demand, however I am slightly old fashioned in that I won`t put 6 people on a table designed for 4 in the corridor outside the gents, I believe you English refer to it as “Over egging the pudding “, I prefer to be under egged with 162 happy customers who might come back on another day

Our Tuesday Night Quizzers handed over a cheque for £4155.78 to Great Ormond Street Hospital bringing the total raised to just over £8,000, they have now started raising funds for the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore and are currently at £1,121

On Easter Saturday we`re going to have a charity quiz night with a difference, £12.50 per person to include a finger buffet with £2.50 going into the charity kitty. At the end of the evening the winning team will nominate the charity that the money goes to. Think it`ll work ? why not come along and see.

Sporting update

Guinness finally delivered their 6 nations kit ( ordered in January ), one week after the event finished – hopefully the games will be played on the same dates next year so the posters and beer mats won`t be wasted

Youngests team at Fullerians is doing quite well and having beaten Saracens, Braintree & Harpenden at home in recent weeks are being rewarded by Coach Dave with a trip to their away game this Sunday in a proper 51 seat team coach complete with card tables, executive toilet and tv`s

I`ll keep you posted on who got to sit in the back seats though the favourites are young Steve and Mark who plan to arrive 30 minutes early to stake their claims
