A radio DJ who broadcast for 24 consecutive hours in just his underwear is hoping to raise even more money for charity by auctioning off his now famous pants.

Matt Cadman, known to listeners of community radio station 101.8 The Vibe as “Cadderz”, stripped down to his briefs and took to the airwaves at 11am on Thursday morning.

The breakfast show host, who is also station manager, then remained at the station's DJ desk for the next 24 hours.

Matt, who stripped to raise money for the Cruse Bereavement Care – a charity that runs bereavement services in Hertfordshire – said the idea was spawned by DJs at the station.

He said: “The next thing, we were talking about it on the radio and that is where it came from – there was no going back then.

“I was on from 11am until 11am the next day. It wasn't too bad although it was very tiring in the morning.”

Matt's skimpy y-fronts have even been put on eBay, where they will be available for auction until Sunday.

Proceeds from the item, which has a starting price of £5, will also be donated to the charity.

The Vibe, which used to be known as Fresh FM, is currently broadcasting its forth temporary licence from the former Watford FC “Buzz” store, in Charter Place.

However, Matt says he is hopeful of securing a permanent licence to allow the station to broadcast full-time.

He added: “We are a community radio station aiming at young people in Watford.

“We are on air until next Tuesday but we want a permanent slot.

“We are going for a full-time licence later this year so hopefully by November we should have the bid in.”

The communications regulator, Ofcom, will then consider the licence application. However, Matt is hopeful the station will get its licence.

“It could be anything up to two years away,” he said, “but we are hoping it will be as soon as possible.”
