Those responsible for Bushey Hall School's proposed transformation into an Academy have hit back at rumours of setbacks by announcing the project's principal, set to replace the current headteacher this year.
Andy Hemmings, the current deputy headteacher at Bushey Hall School, in London Road, Bushey, has been assigned principal designate for the planned 1050 student school and 300 student Sixth Form.
Depending on the outcome of a public consultation, including a public meeting at the school at 7pm today, and a decision by the Secretary of State, Bushey Hall School will close and become a Business and Communication specialising Academy in September.
Former Vice Chairman of Watford Football Club, David Meller, the lead sponsor of the project said:"I'm delighted in reaching this important milestone by appointing the right leader for the proposed Bushey Academy.
"Andy has already demonstrated great leadership, enthusiasm and passion by raising education standards in his present role. I am looking forward to working with him and the staff at Bushey Hall as the Academy prepares for opening in September."
