FIREFIGHTERS from Watford battled for an hour to save a burning building in Watford on Sunday.
Vandals are thought to have sprayed petrol or lighter fluid around the disused factory-style building in Watford Field Road before torching its ground floor causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.
Firefighters, some wearing breathing apparatus, faced flames up to eight feet high as they tackled the blaze which led to the power being temporarily cut in surrounding homes.
Nearby residents had reported seeing flames and smoke billowing from the two-storey building at about 6pm behind the Jaguar showroon in the Lower High Street.
