The head of a gang that left a South Oxhey painter and decorator dead after a botched drugs robbery has been convicted of manslaughter.

David Driscoll died from a stab wound to the neck after members of London gang, the Love of Money gang burst into a flat in Oxhey Drive, on November 23, 2006.

After a ten-day retrial at Luton Crown Court Raymond Agbugba-Cansie, 27, of Whippendell Road, Watford, was found guilty of manslaughter, robbery and possession of firearms after guns were found at the flat he shared with his girlfriend in Redfern Court.

In October last year 21-year-old Nathan Bruce, of Harwood Court, Hoxton, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Mr Driscoll.

However, the jury could not reach a verdict on Agbugba-Cansie, and a re-trial took place, with a ban on publicity, until today.

Four men including Agbugba-Cansie were initially tried for Mr Driscoll's murder.

The court heard that the three were acting on Agbugba-Cansie's instructions as he waited outside in the getaway car.

The men burst into the flat after owner Tony Kendall opened the door and demanded to know where a substantial amount of drugs seen the night before were.

A large amount of cocaine had been witnessed by escort girls from the Sure Delights agency in Radlett, and word had got to Agbugba-Cansie.

However, no drugs were found and the gang fled empty handed after inflicting a fatal stab wound to Mr Driscoll.

The two other defendants ; Leon Walsh, 22, of Whiston Road, Hackney and Thaimloll Conteh, 20, of Cropley Court, Hoxton were found not guilty of murder after the previous trial, but guilty of conspiracy to rob.

Agbugba-Cansie will be sentenced at Luton Crown Court on Monday.
