Sarrie the camel and his Saracens team mates visited a school in Bushey today as part of a six week programme bringing rugby to disabled children.

The rugby club's mascot and Community Development Officer Alex Austerbury visited Bushey Meads and Meadow Wood students in Coldharbour Lane to run through a variety of games based on tag rugby.

Mr Austerbury said: “It's part of the Wooden Spoon programme run by Premier Rugby which works with disabled schools to get people engaged in sports. We have had lots of fun with games like alien invasion and gold bar robber. They've all been brilliant and at the end we've progressed into moving towards playing a game of rugby.”

Bushey Meads PE teacher, Sarah Cooper added: “The programme has taught them about teamwork and rugby skills. They've all really loved it.”
