A man has cycled from Watford to Wiltshire for charity in memory of his brother who died suddenly from Epilepsy.

Peter Fewell and his friend Vince Grove cycled 80 miles for Epilepsy Bereaved, a charity which supports people after a relative or friend dies from Sudden Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP) in memory of Martin Fewell who died in July 2007.

Peter said:” When Martin died I wasn’t aware that a seizure could be fatal. Since that time, I have been involved with Epilepsy Bereaved and have met many other families who have lost someone due to SUDEP. The statistics are shocking - 3 deaths a day in the UK; many much younger than my brother Martin and worse still is that many deaths could be prevented with the right support, treatment and care.”

He added: “Whenever there was a problem Martin was the one to sort it out.

Martin had a large circle of friends and enjoyed nothing more than to socialise with them. He was the life and sole of the party. Martin had a great sense of humour, was kind and considerate to all. Everyone loved him. “ He praised Martin's work collegaues at Capcon Ltd for their donations and Denise and Dave of Tapestry Cakes who ran a bbq and fundraiser at the launch of the cycle ride.

John Inglis, the charity’s director said: “Epilepsy Bereaved appreciates Peter’s enthusiasm and support in assisting us to raise awareness of the prevention of death from epilepsy.”

Peter is hoping to raise £1,000 in memory of Martin. He has extended his online fundraising page http://www.justgiving.com/peterfewell to include National Epilepsy Week this week.
