Two employees of a Watford-based footcare agency have been charged with defrauding the NHS and private companies by charging for work that was not done.

Shreya Shah, 33 and Adib Lokat, 39, allegedly produced fake timesheets and claimed for extra hours that had not been worked, while employed by Footcare Plus Recruitment, based in Hartcran House, Delta Gain, Watford.

The jury heard how Shah, of Sedgecombe Avenue, Kenton, allegedly billed one company for work said to be carried out by a woman who was on holiday at the time.

And it is alleged Lokat, of Beaconsfield Road, Leicester, claimed on timesheets for work as a locum, when he was apparently working in another part of the country.

The jury heard how the Watford-based company provided a number of locum podiatrists and chiropodists for the NHS and were the main private provider for Derbyshire Primary Care Trust.

The defendants both deny allegations of fraud.

The trial is expected to last three weeks.
