Children in the Leavesden area are set for a fun-filled summer as a playground is set for a £44,000 makeover.

The play area in Lemonfield Drive will close for three weeks on Monday for a complete refurbishment.

The area is managed by Abbots Langley Parish Council who has shared the £44,000 re-development cost with Three Rivers District Council.

The renovated play area will include new equipment especially designed for younger children and improved access for wheelchairs.

Leavesden Ward Councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst said: “I am delighted that with joint working with Three Rivers Council we are going to get a fully refurbished and much needed toddler playground for the community in the Lemonfield area.

“My former colleague Councillor Sue Bartrick who has just stood down campaigned very hard for this on both councils and she is delighted that at last her work is nearing fruition.”
