Conservatives control Bushey


The Conservatives took control of Bushey in the Hertfordshire County Council elections.

In Bushey North, Steve O'Brien was elected with 1,510 votes, with Liberal Democrat candidate Lynne Hodgson taking 1,257 votes.

Councillor O'Brien replaces fellow Tory Michael Colne.

Arjuna Krishna-Das (Green) received 277 votes, and James Sowerbutts (Labour) had 234 votes.

There was a 33.3 per cent turnout, with 22 spoilt ballots.

It was a similar picture in Bushey South, where Conservatives again beat the Liberal Democrats into first place, though by a much larger margin.

Seamus Quilty was re-elected in the ward with 2,690 votes, compared to Robert Gamble's tally of 779.

David Bearfield (Labour) took 323 votes, narrowly ahead of Green Party candidate Edward Canfor-Dumas with 320 votes.

There was a 45.3 per cent turnout, with 22 spoilt ballots.

"Councillor O'Brien replaces fellow Tory Michael Colne." No, get your facts right. Michael was a Liberal Democrat councillor for 33 years.

Great to see the smug grins wiped from Limp Dumb faces locally. Davey I take your point, it's not much to ask that local media reports local news accurately. I made the point last week that Lib Dem weekly is being dumbed down with sloppy journalism but was berated by one or more of Dotty's rotweilers. By the way, just where is Redbourne Road in Watford? (last week W.O.)
