Police have received an anonymous letter relating to the death of a cyclist involved in a suspected hit and run.

Kenneth Lush was cycling on the A414 from Hatfield to Hertford on the evening of May 13 when he was struck by a car.

The 47-year-old man, who lived in Ware, died at the scene following the incident, which involved a black Ford Fiesta.

A man and a woman, who have been released on police bail, were arrested in connection with Kenneth's death.

Now, Hertfordshire Constabulary has revealed a letter about the death, bearing a Watford postmark, has been received by Hatfield police station on May 26.

Officers will not disclose the contents of the letter but are keen to trace the person who wrote it.

Detective Constable Dee Rayner, from the crash investigation unit, said: “I would like to be put in contact with this person as soon as possible to help us with our investigation.

“I would appeal to them to contact me directly, or if anyone thinks they know the identity of this person, to also get in touch.”

Following the Hatfield businessman's death, his wife Cornelia described the father-of-four as the “rock” in her life.

Kenneth was managing director of the family business, Lush Heat Treatment.
