Sports mad pupils at a Bushey primary school have come face-to-face with an Olympic triple jumper.
Athlete Larry Achike visited youngsters at Highwood Primary School, in Bushey Mill Lane, who have been taking part in a variety of sports during National School Sports Week.
Sarah Schwartz, Year Five teacher and PE co-ordinator, said: “We've organised lots of workshops and activities to give children something different than their regular PE lessons.”
The week-long event, which finishes on Friday, has seen pupils take part in sponsored fitness activities, street and disco dancing workshops and big board games with the help of Watford Football Club.
Pupils from Reception to Year 6 have also tried their hand at circus skills and Tae Kwon Do.
Sarah said: “We're a really sporty school. We try to participate in as many sports as possible and try to give them a good breadth of activities.
“It's a really important part of their education. It's good for fitness, teamwork and social skills.”
Highwood hosts its summer fair on Saturday, between 1pm and 4pm, before the annual sports day on Wednesday, July 15.
