Brazen thieves stole a four-tier stone fountain during a daylight raid in Radlett.
The gang drove a white van onto a grass area in front of Road Tech Computer Systems, in Rectory Lane, before taking the fountain and driving off in an unknown direction.
The fountain is described as four-tiered, with four bowls of decreasing size.
It is unknown how many people were involved but police believe the size and weight of the fountain meant it would have needed more than one person to take it.
The incident happened at about 2.10pm on Thursday, June 25.
PC Paul Francis, said: “If anyone witnessed suspicious activity in the area around the stated time or if you have any information, I would ask that you get in contact as soon as possible.
“I would also like to speak to anyone who may have been offered a fountain, similar to the one described, for sale.
“Anyone with information is asked to call Hertfordshire Constabulary on 0845 3300 222, citing crime reference number J1/09/2689.”
Alternatively, telephone 0800 555111.
