A solicitor from Leavesden will be sampling the high life tomorrow when he takes to the skies to do a freefall tandem skydive for charity.

Ian Tottman, 56, of High Road, was inspired to take part in the adrenaline-filled challenge by his 19-year-old son and has already exceeded his target of raising £1,000 for the Hopsice of St Francis in Berkhamsted.

Ian, a senior partner at Pickworths Solicitors in Hemel Hempstead, said: “This is the first time I have done a skydive and I have to say, I’ve had a great response from everyone I have told.

"It’s my son who actually inspired me to do this after doing a bungee jump and tandem skydive in New Zealand."

The part-time referee added: “I was overwhelmed with the warmth, energy and level of excellence contributed by everyone at the hospice and am delighted to be a proud supporter of this great event."

Pickworths Solicitors is celebrating its 40th year in practice and to commemorate the occasion, decided to support the hospice's 30th birthday fundraiser.

Pippa Brush, community fundraiser for the hospice, said: “We’re doing a series of events to celebrate our 30th birthday this year and the skydive was a great challenge for people to do. We are delighted with Ian’s support and are spurring him on.”
