A resident at a town centre hostel who was admitted to hospital with chest pains died of natural causes.
An inquest into the death of Colin Jones, a resident at the YMCA hostel in Watford, heard the 42-year-old was admitted to Watford General on June 14, 2009.
Hertfordshire's coroner, Edward Thomas, said Mr Jones had been suffering with vomiting, chest pains and shortness of breath for four days.
He died of liver failure two days later in the Vicarage Road hospital. However, Mr Thomas said a toxicology examination of Mr Jones found no alcohol in his body and that the cause of death was natural.
He said: “He had severe liver damage that caused acute liver failure.
“This would have affected the other organs in his body so I am going to record he died of natural causes.”
