Like a bolt of lightning, a boy from Bushey completed a trolley dash this morning (Friday), bagging himself 57 items.
Zak Titouah, 12, who attends Bushey Meads School, was chosen to open a new 99p Store in Harrow because of his sporting prowess.
Zak is a successful athlete. He was district champion for high jump, plays football for Bushey Rangers and runs the 100m for school.
99p Stores promoter Graham Barnes said: “Zak was the perfect choice and did himself proud. Fifty seven items in 99 seconds was a terrific performance – I doubt even Usain Bolt could top that.”
Like a kid in a candy shop, Zak grabbed lots of sweets, crisps and chewing gum off the shelves. But he didn’t forget his more active pursuits, as he stopped to pick up some tools so he could fix up his BMX.
His mum was not forgotten either. She received a brand new tea set.
Zak’s mother Joanna said: “He was absolutely fantastic. He went round like a shot. It’s a shame he’s too young for the next Olympics.”
Zak has split his winnings into six different piles, sharing his stash among friends and family.
After the trolley dash, Zak and brother Lyes, aged nine, cut the ribbon to officially open the new 99p store in Station Road, Harrow.
