The Bushey Horticultural society has hosted its annual show.

On Saturday more than 30 challenge cups and medals were awarded to entrants in classes which encompassed both flowers and vegetables, food produce and art.

Prizes this year were presented by Councillor Lynne Hodgson, and memorable winners included Maureen Thorne who won Best Horticultural exhibit in Show, Sheila Hilton who won Best Marmalade in exhibit and Laurence Stone who won Highest Points in division E (vegetables).

This year also saw a number a children's events in both horticulture and art.

Malcolm Rivers who helped run this year's show said: "This year the youngsters entered a lot of paintings and drawings, we put in categories for children to paint pictures, and it was wonderful. We had 20 to 30 entries from children from all over the county."

Ian Brooks, Caldecote Gardens, Bushey, of the society, said: "We need more young people to take part. We always want more people, especially young people because after we've all called it a day there'll be no-one to take over."

Amy Parker swept the board with three children's titles, and Tom Collyur, Isabella Goff and Claudia Balory also collected cups.

Jenny Brooks, of the society, said: "It was an excellent show this year a great turn out."
