A local radio producer and football fan has been put through his paces by World Cup hero Sir Geoff Hurst after winning a national competition.

Jon Moonie, from Watford, was one of 14 people selected to take part in the once-in-a-lifetime football coaching session in London following a competition on a national radio station.

The 29-year-old spent the day with World Cup legend, Sir Geoff Hurst, as well as Eric Harrison, a leading football coach who was responsible for nurturing of a young David Beckham during his time at Manchester United.

Jon says he plans to use the information he learnt during the coaching session to help coach a local football team.

Jon said: “Winning the competition was great and it was fantastic to get stuck in and learn from the professionals and I hope to be able to pass on the skills through coaching in the future.

“Meeting Sir Geoff and Eric, and hearing all of their football stories was brilliant and they really helped us throughout the day and passed on their expertise, encouraging us to learn.

“It really was a day to remember.”
