A primary school in Watford has received a £500 grant to help build a new greenhouse.
Bromet School, in Oxhey Road, has launched a Get, Set, Grow scheme to teach green-fingered pupils about the importance of a healthy diet and make them aware of where their food comes from.
The money was awarded by County Councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst, from his £10,000 locality budget to be spent on worthwhile community projects.
He said: "Get, Set, Grow is a great project as it brings together Bromet School and the local community."
Each of the 77 members of Hertfordshire County Council have been allocated £10,000, which will benefit many more community projects across the county.
Jo Brew, who runs Get, Set, Grow, said: "We're really pleased to get a grant from our county councillor. It will be great for the school to have a greenhouse for growing plants in early spring."
Locality budgets were launched in July 2009, with funding to be used for worthy social, economic or environmental causes in Hertfordshire.
