A woman hoping to build three bungalows on the Cassiobury estate has had an appeal thrown out by a government planning inspector.
Lisa Burn had an application to build three chalet bungalows on Gade Avenue, in Watford, turned down by Watford Borough Council in September last year.
Councillors on the council’s development control committee refused the plan because of concerns about road access, saying the design would have a negative impact on the character and appearance of the area as well as on Cassiobury Park.
Ms Burn then appealed the decision. However, the government inspector dismissed the application, saying there was inadequate manoeuvring space for vehicles within the site.
Ms Burn had also applied for costs to be paid to her, however, the inspector also dismissed her appeal.
Councillor Alan Burtenshaw, chair of the development control committee said: “It is a myth that we allow development willy-nilly in Watford.
“We are pleased that our decision to refuse this application has been independently backed.”
