A YEAR 10 pupil from Watford Grammar School for Girls has been elected a Member of Youth Parliament (MYP).
The canvassing efforts of Wis Wang-Kho paid off when she collected 434 votes to win MYP for south Hertfordshire.
The 14-year-old beat 19 other county candidates at this year's election at County Hall.
Year 7 pupil, Abisola Babrber, also of Watford Grammar, was elected as a deputy.
Executive member for education, Robert Gordon, congratulated the six newly-elected MYPs. He said: "Your role is to represent all young people in your area. MYPs are there to speak up for young people at all levels of government and the election turnout shows that young people want their voices to be heard."
Members of the UK Youth Parliament do not represent any political party, but campaign on issues from drugs and street crime to education and the environment.
