Councillors stood to observe a minute's silence in memory of two former Watford mayors last night.
Beryl Merrifield was mayor of Watford from 1968 until 1969 and died peacefully on August 16, this year.
Beryl was married to Alec and had two sons, John and Ian, and was a grandmother to Daniel to Sophie.
Her funeral took place at West Herts Crematorium on Thursday, August 27.
Councillors also paid their respects to Alan Bonney, who died in the Peace Hospice, in Watford, on Wednesday, September 2.
Mr Bonney, served as a councillor in Watford for seven years and was mayor between 1977 and 1978.
His funeral was held on Monday and the flag on the Town Hall was flown at half mast in his honour.
