More than 6,000 trees and shrubs are to be planted around Bhaktivedanta Manor, Letchmore Heath's Hare Krishna Temple.

Some of the new plants will form hedges around the manor's pasture fields, providing natural habitats for wild creatures and enhancing the Green Belt.

"The manor has come to recognise its strategic relevance to the Green Belt area in which it has been functioning as a temple for more than 30 years. We would like to enhance and contribute towards the visible environmental beauty of the area." said temple president Gauri dasa.

Eventually the hedges will establish a living barrier for the grazing cows and oxen. This will make it easier to manage the animals, and provide extra shelter from the rain and sun.
