Saracens director of rugby Brendan Venter has urged supporters to turn out on Sunday for their first match at Vicarage Road this season against Gloucester.

The Men in Black defend their 100 per cent Guinness Premiership record, against the Cherry and Whites, and after putting several of the fancied sides to the sword will be confident of extending their winning run.

Saracens aim to attract average gates at Vicarage Road of 15,000 this season and Venter hopes the club's excellent start, which has seen them play in front of more than 120,000 fans over three games, will help them get a big turnout this weekend.

Venter said: "It is fantastic being back at Vicarage Road and we want to make sure we match how the team did last year when it was a fortress.

"The main reason sides do so well at home, places like the Rec and Kingsholm, is the crowd support. The supporters can make a difference and after getting 45,000 at Wembley I'm sure we can get 15,000 at Vicarage Road. The fans asked us to perform and we have started well so now we need them to vote with their feet."

Glen Jackson returns at fly-half for the game despite a fine full debut for Derick Hougaard at Quins, while Wikus van Heerden, back from South Africa, should come in for Michael Owen in the pack.

Captain Steve Borthwick is expected to be fit despite suffering a sprained rib cartilage at the Stoop. Fabio Ongaro is in line to make his first start of the season in place of dynamic South African Schalk Brits.

Gloucester, under the guidance of Bryan Redpath, started the campaign with a convincing win over Bath but have since been well beaten in their last two games.

Venter added: "They are a good rugby side. They started really well and will be desperate to get a result. Gloucester have good individuals and are strong at the breakdown."
