Abbots Langley Methodist church’s unusual method of afternoon worship has gone down a storm with local residents.

Messy Church, a monthly event organised by Abbots Langley Methodist church and St Lawrence’s Parish church, encourages children under 11 to get together after school for fun, games and craft activities at the Methodist church hall.

Based around the theme of Journeys, this month’s session welcomed a total of 43 parents and children.

Reverend Gill Hulme said: “As our theme was Journeys this month, we had a surprise visit from our local lollipop lady Debbie.

“We took the Green Cross Code – stop, look and listen – and applied it to how in our lives we need to stop, look at the Bible and listen to what God is saying to us.”

Next month’s event will be based on the theme of Saints and Heroes and will be held on November 11.

Attendance is free, but donations to cover costs are welcomed.
