Charities will benefit from £5,775 in donations from the crowd that enjoyed the fireworks display at Cassiobury Park on Saturday night.
Between 35,000 and 40,000 people wrapped up for the Guy Fawkes Night celebrations which kicked off with a special children’s display.
The crowd at the annual event funded by Watford Borough Council and helped run by charity Watford Lions Club were kept warm by a bonfire built by the Lions Club’s Mark Franklin.
Frances Turner, of Watford Lions Club, was organiser of the bucket collections on the night.
She said: “It went very well. We had a huge crowd there and the fireworks were brilliant. There was a great bonfire for the third year, which was expertly built by Mark.”
She added: “We raised money for the Mayor’s charity The Peace Hospice and the Alzheimer’s Society, which is the council chairman, Keith Crout’s charity.
“There were about 60 or 70 collectors out from various other organisations as well and everyone had a great time.”
