Liberal Democrat Energy and Climate Change spokesman Simon Hughes has visited a “pioneering” low-carbon headquarters in Kings Langley to discuss the “need for sustainable generation of power”.

Simon Hughes, MP, visited the low-carbon head office of Renewable Energy Systems on Friday, alongside Liberal Democrat prospective MP, Sal Brinton.

The Kings Langley office has attracted a number of well-known visitors over the years, including Prince Andrew, and is renowned for its massive wind turbine, which can be seen from the M25.

During the visit Mr Hughes highlighted the need for sustainable generation of power, including wind farms and solar energy.

Mr Hughes, said: “Building more environmentally friendly housing is the way forward, saving not only home-owners' money in bills, but also being much more friendly to the environment.

“The visit has been extremely productive and I am sure that with the forward-thinking that this company is doing, we can really cut carbon emissions.”

Following the visit, Ms Brinton said: “It was a very productive morning visiting the site and discussing the future of sustainable construction and dealing with climate change.

“One area that we were particularly interested in was the cost of producing wind generated power.

“Renewable Energy Systems are clearly leading the way in developing effective wind generation and it was good to see them putting this into practice at their own HQ in Kings Langley.”
