Staff at a Rickmansworth hair salon have shed their clothes and their inhibitions to pose for a “tastefully saucy” charity calendar.

Taking their cue from the town’s male shopkeepers, who posed for their own calendar last year, the girls of the High Street’s HOB salon posed together to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

Using umbrellas, Santa hats, and even a large beach ball to preserve their modesty, the girls are featured in 12 black and white images highlighted with touches of bright red – the colours of the British Heart Foundation.

Senior Stylist and calendar instigator Jude Higley explained: “My best friend died two years ago of heart failure so this is a cause very close to my heart.

“I saw the calendar that the guys did last year and thought it was a really good idea. I also thought ours would be a bit more appealing than theirs.

“We had such good fun and the results were fantastic. I think they’re tastefully saucy.

“Everybody has given their time for free and has been really generous. We hope to raise about £5,000 in sales.”

Stylist May Bukauskiene added: “I had never done anything like this before but it was great fun. I definitely think our calendar is better than the men’s.”

Photographer Rebecca Bruce added: “I was approached through a friend and had a fantastic time. Obviously some of the models were a bit nervous but I’m really proud of the final images.”

The calendar will be launched on Rickmansworth’s annual Victorian Evening on Friday, November 27 and will be available for a cost of £5.

The idea of the nude fundraising calendar dates back to 1999, when the ladies of Yorkshire’s Rylstone Women’s Institute stripped off to raise money to buy a new sofa for a hospital waiting room.

Their idea has since been adopted by hundreds of fundraising groups, has been adapted into a hit West End play and even inspired a Hollywood movie.
