The vocal talents of the Kings Langley Community Choir are to be recorded by the BBC this evening as part of a nationwide project.

About 50 members of the community choir will sing Handel’s famous “Hallelujah Chorus”, for national scheme “Sing Hallelujah”, which encourages people to find their voice and discover the joy of singing.

Verity Standen, 24, musical director of the choir, said: “It’s a great honour for our choir to be asked to be part of this.

“We will be performing in the Main Hall of Watford Boys School and as we haven’t performed or even practised this piece of music before, it’s a hugely exciting experience.”

Sing Hallelujah marks the 250th anniversary of Handel’s death and everyone from beginners to established choirs has been invited to learn the Hallelujah Chorus and perform or record the work during November and December.
