AFTER the calamitous 5-0 midweek home defeat against Folkestone Invicta in the semi-final of the Kent Senior Cup, Bromley got their Ryman League South Divison One play-off bid back on track with a 4-0 home win against Bracknell last Saturday.

Bromley manager Stuart McIntyre was pleased with his players after they responded in the correct way after they lost to Folkestone Invicta.

He said: "The 5-0 defeat hurt, not just me and the supporters, it really hurt the players, because they know they are better than that. We were never five goals worse off.

McIntyre would also have delighted with his new signing Mark Watson. The 31-year-old striker, joined last Thursday from Lewes and proved an instant hit.

Watson won his new team-mates two penalty kicks and it took him only 18 minutes to open his goalscoring account for Bromley,.

He said: "I haven't been playing for the past five-six weeks due to injury and suspension and then when I was coming back I was doing quite well and trying to get back into the Lewes team.

"Obviously you want to do well on your debut, which is the most important thing, but if you score and can help someone else to score its even better"

Bromley were without captain John Myatt (work commitments) and defender Steve Potterill (dead leg) so he made solid, reliable defender Mark Willy captain and Watson lead the line with youngster Paul Vines. Jason McKoy was recalled to midfield and the back four of Danny Smith, John Wilfort, Willy and Michael Harney were solid, enabling goalkeeper Danny Harwood to keep his 14th clean sheet of the season.

Bromley, raced into a 2-0 lead with two goals in the space of three minutes and Watson played a part in both.

First, after being fouled by Ben Edwards and Michael Harney netting from the spot, Watson then scored with a fierce shot that went in off the underside of the bar.

Bromley went further ahead in the 26th minute whe Paul Vines headed inn powerfully from eight yards.

The only surprise was that Bromley did not add to their tally until the 78th minute, when Watson was fouled by Stuart Hammonds, who was sent off, and sub Bobby George netted from the spot to make it 4-0.

This Saturday, Bromley travel to Walton & Hersham ahead of Tuesday's trip to Egham Town.
