Help keep lifeboat charity afloat with used stamps

Around 30 years after a couple walked into a lifeboat station on holiday in Wales they are still raising funds for the RNLI.

Like many people Bryan and Brenda Kemp, of Foxhill, Watford, were looking for something to do while holidaying in Tenby, Pembrokeshire “all those years ago”.

After visiting the local lifeboat station Bryan signed up for the charity, which provides a 24-hour voluntary service to save life at sea.

Now Mr Kemp is chairman of the Watford branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, while Mrs Kemp is souvenir secretary.

With Christmas approaching, as in previous years, they ask residents to save used stamps from letters and parcels, which help fund the more than 200 lifeboat stations over the UK.

Mrs Kemp said: “The HQ said it could not take all the stamps anymore, but it could carry on if we had a local collection point. That is why we started to do it.

“We would like to say a big thank you for to those that have been sending in over the years and please could they keep them coming.”
