Watford pool player could retain title

A pool player from Watford could be set to retain his title as Rileys All Star Pool Challenge champion.

John Burt, 21, recently won the first competition launched by the pool and snooker venue when he cleared a table in 29.09s.

His winning time landed him a trip to Las Vegas next summer.

John, a bricklayer from Riverside Road, is now leading Rileys' second challenge in a time of 33.87s.

He said: “When I found out Rileys were doing the pool challenge again, I had to come back and give it another shot.

“My time’s not as good as before, but I’m going to be practising hard and trying to retain my title.”

Every challenge competitor must clear an English pool table against the clock, finishing on the black ball.

Winners will be chosen in several categories, including fastest player, fastest female, fastest over-50, fastest under-18 and fastest student. The overall winner will win a trip to the European Grand Prix in Valencia next year.

Anyone can take the free challenge, on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays from 4pm to 9pm at any Rileys club nationwide until Sunday, December 6.
