A reduced train timetable between Watford Junction and London is still in operation as high winds meant engineers unable to complete repairs last night.
London Midland and Virgin Trains yesterday announced they would be running four trains an hour from the capital, due to problems with overhead power lines.
Network Rail officials told the Watford Observer today that power had been restored to three of the four lines but the two train operators will continue their amended timetable for the rest of the day.
The representative said: “Our engineers were going to make repairs overnight but due to the extremely high winds we weren't able to work safely.
“It was just dangerously windy. We're confident we should be able to get the work started tonight. Hopefully everything will run fully in the morning.”
