Owls Bowls Club in Watford has donated £1,000 to Herts Air Ambulance

Hertfordshire Air Ambulance representatives were bowled over by a charitable donation from a Watford sports club.

The Owls Bowls Club, based at Woodside Leisure Centre in Horseshoe Lane, held a quiz night to raise money for the life-saving service on Saturday, November 21.

The evening started with a talk about the role of the air ambulance in the community, which explained that it is funded entirely by voluntary donations.

The cost of keeping the helicopter in the air is £120,000 per month.

Owls President Percy Butcher then presented £1,000 to air ambulance representative Debbie Smith, on behalf of member and friends of the bowls club.

The money had been raised through raffles, quiz nights and a Charity Gala Day earlier in the season.
