A teenager from Kings Langley has died following a football match on Friday evening.

Dale Butler, 18, from Kings Langley was taking part in a football game organised by company Power league, at Queens’ School in Aldenham Road, Bushey.

Gary Sanderson, spokesman for the east of England ambulance service, said: “We were called to an address in Aldenham Road, on Friday evening, at 8.20pm, to a man who was taken suddenly ill.

“Ambulance crews from Rickmansworth and Watford attended the scene and on arrival discovered the man to be in a critical condition.

“He was rapidly treated by paramedics before being conveyed to an awaiting medical team at Watford General Hospital.”

Dale Butler, who staff and pupils at a Kings Langley School have described as “extremely popular, with a wonderful sense of humour”, has since died.

The teenager, who had left Kings Langley School in July and according to staff, was applying for college, kept in regular contact with students, playing alongside them in a local football team.

Gary Lewis, headteacher of Kings Langley School, said: “The school was devastated to hear the news that Dale Butler died very suddenly on Friday, during a game of football with many of his school friends.

“Dale was an extremely popular student with a wonderful and quirky sense of humour that endeared him to students and staff alike.

“We are in touch with the family and intend to do all that we can to support them following this devastating loss.

“Students are contributing to a memorial book at school, with hundreds of them expressing their feelings openly on Facebook.”
